Home Chemistry New Pink
Wella Koleston Perfect Light Pearl Ash mixed with their Supermix pink color intensifier.
It was a vivid violet for a day after I dyed it but it mellowed out overnight.
The pink isn't supposed to last very long but when it fades it will leave the pearly blonde.
I'm curious to see how long it lasts...I like this color a lot.

Tree.
So, I've been working on this freehand painting of a tree for a few weeks now and I've finally finished it (mostly). I still need to do the bits that extend up onto the ceiling, but I'm in the stage where I step back for a few days and decide where extra foliage (if any) is needed. I'm rather pleased with it..if I do say so myself, so I thought I would share it here..in the saucy place. ;)

Hello ladies and gents...
Forgive me indulging in something of a long shot! I'm from Manchester, England, and I'm coming to Chicago as part of my vacation. I'll be in town from Tuesday through to Saturday.
I was due to travel with a friend and as such I bought two tickets to the Blackhawks-Maple Leafs game on Friday night. As it is, for long and complicated reasons, I'll be travelling on my own. I've only ever seen one NHL game previous to this trip and I'll still be going even if it's just me and I sit next to an empty seat. However, that seems a bit of a waste.
So my question is, is there a local fan who'd like to take my spare ticket and come along too? I'd appreciate the extra experience of watching the game with a local who can probably teach me a few things, and er...well, you get to have me buy you a beer between periods. And you get to laugh at my stunning ineptitude when it comes to the game of ice hockey.
All I ask is face value ($95) for the ticket, which is in block 208 of United Center.

The Gods Who Decide Which Shot to Use for Movie Previews are never kind to me, are they? Sheesh! Snaggletooth much?
I've also been working on my ruffley salad scarflette. Here's where it was at last night. Today I've been building on the ruffles and making them BIGGER! There's almost two skeins of Malabrigo in this sucker right now!!!!
I'm also eager to try making the waffle cowl I've always wanted! I need to pick yarn for it! (Oh no....MORE YARN SHOPPING.....). But I guess having the perfect color and perfect weight and perfect texture are more important to me than using up the old stash. Onward!

Bad news for Canadians seeking protein filler
Hi guys,
I posted awhile ago about my damaged porous hair that won't hold colour. Since I'm in Canada, the amazing product that I've heard of, Colorful Protein Filler, is not available at Sally's Beauty Supply here.
I just went down to Sally's today (miraculously, I found there are actually TWO near me! I thought there was only one. So I went to the other this time!) and asked if they had any. They said no. I also looked for it, but they really do not have any. She asked what brand it was, and I said it's Colorful. She said that they do not stock any Colorful items since they are American.
I told her it's on the Sally's website and asked whether she could order some in for me. Unfortunately, since the website is american, most of the items listed on the website do not exist in the Canadian Sally's, and that they are not allowed to order them in since they do not stock the american items.
It seems Canada is dry of protein filler.
I thought I'd let everyone know in case any other Canadians are in the same position as me.
Does anyone know anything else I can use in place of protein filler, or any treatments that will do something similar? Or most importantly, does anyone know a website that will ship protein filler to canada, for LESS than $30 total? I cannot find anywhere for less than $30.

Cookie Parties, Giant Pink Bows, and Yarn Stashes!

Today I shot a few photos for a few peeps. If you want to see it bigger click HERE. The above collage was for I Love Cookie Party.com which is a crafty supply site that sells fabrics and buttons and stuff. They were looking to replace one of the monsters on their site with an actual person and asked if I might want to give it a whirl. I kinda had no idea what they were actually looking for, so I just threw together a bunch of stuff and we'll see if anything sticks!
Also I bought this giant pink bow from Puppycatmeow on Etsy, and she asked if I'd take some photos for her shop, so I said OK!
The last one on the right is so awesome, am I right?
Also today I visited Imagiknit to get more yarn for the upcoming show at New People. I ended up buying like 7 skeins of YELLOW, but all in different brands and materials. Everyone was like GIRL WHY YOU BUYIN SO MUCH YELLOW!?!! Sometimes it just happens!! I sent most of it off to my helpers, but here is what stayed with me:
I figure if I have any readers who are into yarn porn, I can start documenting what I buy on my yarn outings if it happens to look at all exciting!!
I keep wanting to stop buying so much yarn and use up my stash, but somehow, you just end up having to buy more anyway!! I recently went thru my stash and pulled out stuff I know that I will never use. Is it kosher to sell your stash on Etsy?
Anyhoo, I am off to make two watermelon scarves tonight!!!! xo
OH p.s., if you knit or crochet afghans and know anything about framing them properly (i.e. so they don't sag) please let me know!!!

I feel like I might be getting sick. naturally. it wouldn't be the holiday season unless i was sick or in some sort of pain. its like a holiday tradition really. we'll see what develops in the next couple of days. I might take some theraflu tonight just to maybe kill any bugs beforehand? Don't know.
I spend HOURS looking at craft blogs. not in a day. Maybe hours in a week. All these lovely crafty people making things and being happy about it. I try and get inspired but regular life and "responsibility" get in the way. But I have been way more crafty in the last month - I made some yarn pom poms, painted a painting, working on a polaroid picture collection on my wall, tried to be crafty with halloween but time wasn't having it. I WAS going to make christmas cards again this holiday season but frankly - it's rather expensive and I found a box of 48 cards that totally look handmade for like $6. cheap-o way wins this time.
studying mainly. working any short shooting gigs I can get. out of books to read AGAIN. I can't afford my reading habit....i read too quickly for books to be any sort of investment.
I'm looking for this tupperware stacking thing for my production kit. my sister has one she used at school and now i can't find one ANYWHERE. so annoying.
I might paint this shoebox I have black and collage it with old film strips. After I scan them into my computer of course. Haven't decided yet.
November.....my how time flies.

Like Candy
I already posted these pics to the flickr pink hair so if you've seen, skip on over. I know a lot of people have asked how to get a lighter shade of pink so I'm sharing photos of the process and what colors I'm working with to give an idea of reference. Also, all of these pictures {afters included} were taken under the same natural light bulb and without any brightening/shade changes or editing at all {which is a trip cause the color of the dye looks so purpley/neon but when it goes on the hair it totally changes}! Anyhow pressing on..

I guess there is still an atomic pink crisis, but I come bearing good news. I have found something called Color Splat [I bought it at Walgreens in Illinois for $7.99]
If you get the color "pink fetish" it looks EXACTLY like atomic pink and it has the same staying power. Also the box comes w/ gloves and a bleaching kit. I don't have a pic atm bc I'm at work but I wanted to give Color Splat a shout out. I'm including a link so you can see what the box looks like! Also it appears it is rather easy to find and purchase online.

I know this gets asked all the time but I was wondering if anyone has any idea where Atomic Pink is currently instock? For a reasonable price. Goodgoth is out, Garment District is too, I've been using fishbowl for the past month but it fades so fast I'm ready for my pink back!!
